Happy Friday #1.3 New Day Edition

I said New DAY Edition
I said New DAY Edition

This is a new Friday for me. Assuming you’re reading this Friday morning, I am in the midst of the final hours of my job. Soon I will start suckling at the severance teat. As such, I’m not sure if this is a happy Friday, or exactly what adjective I would use to describe it. It is a Friday. Also, since this is the last day of the Denver office, the internet at work was shut down on Monday. So I wasn’t able to browse the net like normal and scoop up a bunch of links like the sun on the raisin bran box scooping up raisins. I apologize for the short entry today, but next week there should be plenty more. You’re going to benefit from time off.

Let’s start this off by dropping some science. I have to two studies from “I Fucking Love Science.” First, what does the shape of your face say about you? Are you a friend or a foe? I have trust issues, so I pretty much see all face shapes as foes. But go look at yourself, and then maybe your partner. Make sure everyone in your life is up to snuff. If they’re not, make some changes and stop complaining.

You’ve just assessed the people in your life by their face shape, great. Now to find out if they are a psychopath or a sociopath. What’s the difference? Glad you asked because that is exactly what this next entry from “I Fucking Love Science” delves into. It leaves out the dreaded psycho-hose beast, but we should all know that when we see it.

I think by now it’s pretty well known that Shrek was originally going to be voiced by Chris Farley. He even had most of the dialog already recorded by the time he passed away. So here is some of that audio with the matching storyboards. He didn’t have a Scottish accent and really isn’t much different than Farley himself. But I’m always interested in the “what could have been” of movies. Ultimately, I think what Myers did is what made the movie work.

This week marks the anniversary of Robin Williams passing. A sad day for sure, and a man who will never be forgotten. I have nothing else to say but I will listen to his best friend Bobcat Goldthwait talk about him. This is very touching as you can tell just how much Bobcat cared for Robin. We should all be so lucky to have such a friendship. I know I am [tugs on ear to signal the person he’s talking to].

With all the talk of psychopaths and death, this hasn’t been much of a happy Friday. Let’s lighten things up shall we? How about some baseball talk? Whenever I am at a game with someone I’ve never gone to a game with before I always end up asking them the same question, “What would your at-bat walk-up music be?” I would go with the theme song from the A-Team. But my entrance music if I were a UFC fighter would either be “Hit the Fence” by the Transplants, or “Way of the Fist” by Five Finger Death Punch. But back to baseball, the best answer I ever heard was the between scenes bass riff from Seinfeld. That seems fitting since the walk-up music got its start with Seinfeld’s favorite team, the NY Mets. This is a great look at the awesomeness that is the walk-up song.

Here are a couple things I really dig: oral histories and stand-up comedy. So here’s a nice long oral history about the stand-up joke “The Aristocrats.” Here’s another fact about me, growing up my sister loved the Disney movie The Aristocats and I have to concentrate harder than I would prefer to ensure I get that second “r” in there.

Now, your terrible tattoo for the week.

Again sorry for the lack of links this week, but enjoy the weekend!
