Happy Friday: Take Me Out

It’s sportsball championship game weekend. I honestly don’t know what words I’m allowed to use without incurring the wrath of the country-wide sportsball association (CWSA). The match features my hometown team, the Mile High City Donkeys, and I always like watching sports more when I’m rooting for a team rather than just rooting against one. Last year I wasn’t so much hoping the Pacific Northwest Oceanbirds won, but rather the Boston Nationalists lost. But there’s still some time until the game, so you can either have fun with synonyms like me, or you can enjoy some of the fun the internet has to offer. Think of these links as the extra point to the touch down that is the weekend. I know I ran out of synonyms there. I’ll work on it.

This is my uncle Russell Klatt. I never got to know him real well. After graduating college he moved around a bunch doing awesome things. I know at one point when I was a kid he was working with a wildlife group to study and protect an endangered owl species. He used to send photos to my mom. They were really cool.

Halfway There

Today is Groundhog Day, and Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow. Or he didn’t see it. I’m actually writing this before Phil was put to work, and I don’t have same the prognostication abilities as rodents. Normally I wouldn’t give two thoughts about this “holiday,” let alone a few hundred written words, but something from those two thoughts I wasn’t giving piqued my interest.

View From The Middle

This past October I took a trip to Toronto to visit the Hockey Hall of Fame. I would be lying if I didn’t have many thoughts about moving there, and attempting to work at the HOF. It’s a big city, which I love. It’s Canada, which is awesome. And you know, hockey. The guy who watches the Stanley Cup had that job for like 14 years, so maybe it’s a lot harder to get a job with the HOF than I’m anticipating. Also, there’s all the issues of work visas and green cards and whatever for a Yankee like me to work and live up north. So it was just a fleeting dream.
